Work Experience

Work experience is part of Avondale School’s Year 10 PDHPE program, with students exposed to the world of work, often for the first time.

After a term spent learning about careers and considering life after school Year 10 students participate in a one-week Work Experience placement in Term 2 where each student has the prospect of learning firsthand about a chosen occupation or industry.

Work Experience is an opportunity to develop skills and networks and to decide what you would like to do with your future.

Work Placement

All VET courses include mandatory work placement hours in the industry area of your course. Work placement gives you the chance to learn current industry skills and to put into practice the employability skills you've already learned as part of your VET course.

Avondale School Trade Training Centre runs a comprehensive work readiness program which skills our students to perform to their very best whilst in industry. Work placement will also help you to:

  • Understand the attitudes expected in the industry area
  • Gain insights into the kind of career you’d like to have
  • Make informed decisions about further training and study
  • Become more employable and better equipped for business and employment opportunities
