We are so excited that your Year 6 child will be starting their journey into Secondary School with us next year. We look forward to celebrating each milestone with them as they transition through the various stages and they grow into being fine, young adults that positively contribute to society.

For the whole day, on Tuesday 17 November, we have planned an engaging Orientation Day for all students starting Year 7 in 2021. The current Year 6 Teachers and Primary Chaplain will also be joining us on the day as familiar faces. This day can help answer questions of what to expect and what to look forward to as they make the switch from Primary to Secondary School. Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with the Secondary Campus and experience what it feels like to move between classes throughout the day. They will get a hands on understanding by participating in interactive English, Mathematics, Science and Technology lessons with a practical application to the real world and get a first-hand look at how we do things on the Secondary Campus.

A light recess and lunch will be provided for the students on the day. The Year 6 Teachers will give dietary requirements for all current students at Avondale School, however, for those coming from other schools, if you could please let Tracey know of any dietary needs. The students will not only have games run by the Prefects at lunchtime, but will also have the opportunity to interact with current Year 7’s and students from other years in a panel style format to ask any questions they may have to those that have gone ahead of them. This is a positive way to help them make the transition smoothly. It is guaranteed to be a lot of fun and we look forward to experiencing this with the 2021 Year 7 class cohort!
