COVID Safety

We want to remind all parents and carers that students who have symptoms (temperature above 37.5 and/or cough and/or sore throat) need to be tested and provide a copy of a negative result or medical clearance before returning to school. You can find a COVID-19 testing clinic here. Please email admin@avondaleschool.nsw.edu.au with a screen shot of the test result or medical clearance. Thanks for working with us to limit the transmission of the virus in order to keep our students safe and our school open

Under current government regulations, the following currently apply to parents:

  • Parents are free to come to the Administration Office, Primary and Secondary Offices, Canteen and Uniform Shop as required.
  • Only parents of Kindy to Year 2 students may walk students on to campus at the beginning of the day for the first 2 weeks of school to allow students to settle in.
  • Parents may pick up from the side gate.
  • Parents must not mingle on campus and need to leave promptly.
  • Parents of students from Years 3 upwards need to use kiss and drop zones and carline.
  • Parents are able to come on to school campus for a pre-arranged meeting with a teacher.
  • Parent volunteers are allowed to support educational activities in classrooms as requested by teachers.
Responding to COVID-19 Cases

We have plans in place to respond to any suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 at school. We will work closely with NSW Health and will communicate with parents and caregivers if a situation arises. In this emergency situation, email will be our primary form of communication, so please check emails regularly. There are 2 possible scenarios:We close for 1-2 days for deep cleaning and contact tracing. No students or staff would be allowed on campus during this time and we would provide basic learning activities. Identified close contacts would be required to self-isolate and be tested

We are directed to close for 14 days and all students and staff would be required to self-isolate. During this time staff will have greater time to provide online learning through Landscape to the level that you were used to during our previous period of remote learning.

We are disappointed to have to cancel or postpone many of our events and activities, however, the safety of our community remains the priority. Please know that we are using our creativity to find fun, memorable and safe alternatives for our students. We appreciate the support from our community and know that as we work together to stay safe, our school can remain open. If we can support your family in any way, please let us know.

Kind regards

Deb Cooper

He Has Risen

This morning my wife and I asked our three daughters the question “what is Easter all about?”. Our eight and six year old girls eloquently explained that it is about “Jesus dying on the cross for all the naughty things we do''. Our four year old on the other hand...

Kindy Alphabet Day

It was super exciting to have parents attending for Kindy's Alphabet Day. It was also exciting to have the Year 1s attend, who missed out in 2020 due to COVID restrictions that did not allow it to happen while they were in Kindy.

Consent Matters

The news has been dominated lately by the topic of consent. We feel appalled, perhaps outraged, as we listen to the complex and heartbreaking impacts of sexual assault in society. Recently there have been calls for schools to shoulder the responsibility of teaching consent to students. There are many factors that contribute...

Opportunities for Optimism

I love spending time in my garden. I’m not a highly skilled gardener, so in the words of my husband, I offer new plants as living sacrifices to the sun God. It’s a beautiful miracle when my new plants grow roots and thrive. Recently I planted seeds in carefully prepared...
