STORMCo, which stands for Service To Others Really Matters, has been engrained in Avondale School for the past two decades, providing opportunities for students and staff to serve in a rural community.
STORMCo has been involved with the town of Cobar for 23 straight years, with some then students now staff, returning to the community year after year to serve. This provides an opportunity for students to learn and develop their leadership skills, while instilling the value of service by giving back to a community outside their own.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions in 2020, the team was not able to travel to Cobar. However, the students came together and developed a Virtual STORMCo program, to continue the relationship with the town. But the team are returning to Cobar in July, 2021.
