At Avondale Early Learning Centre, we have reflected and discussed all of the information and directions we have received from the State and Federal Governments, the Department of Education, the Early Childhood Education and Care Directorate and NSW Health and have the following information to share with you as part of our COVID-19 Risk Management.

Here are some procedures that need to be adhered to at this time.

  • Upon arriving at the centre, please use the hand sanitiser provided before touching the keypad and door handle. There is sanitiser located on the verandah from a free-standing unit and also next to the keypad. On your way out you will notice hand sanitiser located in the door frame, please use this as you exit the building as well.
  • As you enter the foyer you will be asked to sign your child in/out at the iPads, hand sanitiser is available in this area as well.
  • Once you have signed your child in, please remain in the foyer with your child for a staff member to open the classroom door to welcome your child into the classroom. Unfortunately, you or any adult bringing your child to school will not be able to enter the classroom space. We encourage you to keep your drop-off times short and sweet to ensure we do not have a build-up of people in the small foyer space.
  • NSW Health has identified Adult to Adult contact as the highest risk of sharing COVID-19 therefore, you will notice marks/placements in the foyer of locations to wait to help minimise adult to adult contact. We ask that there be no more than 3 adults/visitors in the foyer at any time.
  • If you need to speak to Flavia, Sarah or anyone in the office space, please stand at the edge of the carpet area in front of the office desk, please do not approach the desk directly.
  • COVID-19 Symptoms may include (but are not limited to) fever (37.5c or above), coughing, a sore throat, shortness of breath and/or fatigue. See more information about Symptoms and Testing and Who Should Get Tested
  • If you have been, or think you may have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19 please refrain from bringing your child to the centre until you and your child have been tested and have forwarded you negative result to our admin.
  • If you have or have had symptoms of COVID-19 or any respiratory illness in the last 14 days or been exposed to someone who has, please refrain from bringing your child to the centre until you have been tested and have forwarded you negative result to our admin.
  • If you have been travelling and have been in Covid-19 HOT-SPOTS, in the last 14 days or been exposed to someone who has, please refrain from bringing your child to the centre until you have been tested and have forwarded you negative result to our admin. For more information click here.
  • Other forms of illness - Please be aware that treatments to support recovery from illness such as Panodol, Nurofen, Dimetapp or other over the counter remedies do not cure any infection your child may have, thus your child will remain contagious and sending them to AELC in this context continues the spread of the illness/infection or disease your child may have. It is vital to limit the spread of infection and to respect our centre policy that if your child requires any form of extra support to attend AELC  (including over the counter medications) they need to remain at home until that support has not been required/used for over 24hours and their symptoms have returned to normal for over 24hours.

We have protocols in place to respond immediately to any suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 at our centre and/or school campus. We will work closely with NSW Health and will communicate with parents and caregivers if a situation arises. In this emergency situation, email will be our primary form of communication, so please check emails regularly.
