Stage 6 - Early Childhood Education and Care [VET]


Course Overview

The childcare industry is booming as more and more parents are needing to get back into the workplace to provide for their families. Completing a certificate in Early Childhood Education and Care can lead to a number of job opportunities, from Early Childhood teaching to childcare services, or youth and community work. 

If you are passionate about shaping young minds and supporting children’s emotional, cognitive, social and physical needs then a career in Early Childhood could be the one for you.

At the successful conclusion of this course, students will receive a Statement of Attainment towards Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care as well as 2 units towards their HSC which is nationally recognised.

Work Placement

Students are required to complete 120 hours of mandated work placement over Years 11 and 12.

Students may be required to undertake a Police Check, Working with Children Check and/or follow any health guidelines mandated by the industry. 

This Course can also be undertaken as a Traineeship or School Based Apprenticeship. (See the VET Coordinator for further information) 

Assessment

Assessment is competency based and can include but not limited to:

  • Observation during class and work placement
  • Practical tasks
  • Written tasks
  • Skills tests
  • Competency tests

To be assessed as competent, a student mut demonstrate to a qualified assessor that they can effective carry out various tasks to industry standard.
