PRIMARY (EARLY STAGE 1) TEACHING POSITION
Full Time - Commencing January 2026

Avondale School is a Preschool to Year 12 independent School, owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The school is located on an expansive rural campus in Cooranbong NSW, in the Lake Macquarie area. With a history of providing quality Christian education for over 120 years, our mission continues to focus on providing opportunities for students to know Christ, develop their full potential and cultivate a love of learning.

We seek to use our extensive resources and skilled staff team to deliver innovative learning and wellbeing opportunities that engage students and develop curiosity. We aspire to change the world one graduate at a time, through the development of character, critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration and citizenship. 

Our primary campus is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic Kindergarten Teacher for a full-time position, commencing at the beginning of Term 1, 2026. The successful applicant will:

Essential Criteria

  • model and nurture an active relationship with Jesus and have a knowledge of and commitment to supporting the ethos and mission of Avondale School
  • demonstrate the ability to inspire all learners to develop their skills through the use of differentiated practice
  • have experience with InitiaLit or a willingness to undertake training in the program
  • Possess a solid understanding of child development and early learning pedagogy
  • Demonstrate ability to build nurturing relationships, support social-emotional development, and adapt teaching strategies for young learners 
  • show a willingness to engage in play-based learning and support its integration into classroom practice.
  • have a student-focused outlook, with the ability to creatively engage young students with diverse needs
  • possess excellent people skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with all school stakeholders, and work as part of a cohesive team
  • be an innovative educator with a growth mindset and a passion for learning
  • demonstrate a willingness to collaboratively plan and organise key events as part of the year-level team throughout the school year.
  • hold formal teaching qualifications
  • hold current NESA qualifications and WWCC clearance
