PRIMARY TEACHER'S AIDE

K-6 TEACHER’S AIDE
12 Month Contract - 30 hours per week - Commencing January 2026


Avondale School is a K-12 independent School owned and operated by the Seventh-day
Adventist Church, located in Cooranbong. The School’s mission is to provide opportunities
to know Christ, develop full potential and cultivate a love of learning.

We are looking for a qualified Teacher’s Aide with proven experience supporting students
who require assistance with self-regulation and behaviour/social/emotional development in
the classroom, to join our Inclusive Education Team. The contract will commence in
January 2026 working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8.40am until 3.10pm daily
and conclude at the end of the school year. There is the possibility of continuing
employment based on the needs of the school. 

The successful applicant will:

Essential Criteria

  • Model and nurture an active relationship with Jesus and have a knowledge of, and commitment to, supporting the ethos and mission of Avondale School.
  • Proven experience supporting students who require assistance with self-regulation and behaviour/social/emotional development in the classroom.
  • Have a student-focused outlook and the ability to creatively engage students.
  • Hold a Certificate III in Education Support or higher and/or have equivalent experience
  • Have accurate record keeping skills.
  • Be able to implement programs for individual students and small groups under the direct supervision of classroom and Inclusive Education teachers.
  • Demonstrate strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Have excellent people skills and the ability to develop and maintain relationships with all school stakeholders.
  • Have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Be able to work with multiple digital platforms, recording and learning tools.
  • Have a current and valid WWCC and a First Aid certificate.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working as a Disability Support Worker would be held in high regard.

The successful applicant will be provided with access to the Staff Code of Conduct that sets out the expectations and requirements of employment at the school. The position is subject to stand down periods during non-term time. Child protection legislation requires preferred applicants to be subject to employment screening.
