  • hold formal teaching qualifications with a specialisation in English and be confident in teaching across a range of English courses at the secondary level;
  • demonstrate the ability to design and deliver engaging, innovative, and challenging programs of work that cater to diverse learning needs;
  • have a student-focused outlook, demonstrating the ability to build positive relationships and create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment;
  • show creativity in engaging students in meaningful learning experiences that foster critical thinking, collaboration, and a love for literature and language;
  • demonstrate proven ability to differentiate teaching strategies and make appropriate adjustments to ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed;
  • be a collaborative team player, with a willingness to share ideas, contribute to faculty initiatives, and work effectively with colleagues across the school;
  • possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and the wider school community;
  • maintain a customer-focused approach when engaging with all stakeholders, ensuring the best outcomes for student learning and wellbeing;
  • be confident in integrating technology meaningfully into teaching and learning, using digital tools to enhance student engagement and outcomes;
  • be able to teach both junior and/or senior levels and assist with the implementation of the new Stage 6 syllabus;
  • show initiative, and work independently and collaboratively as required in a team environment;
  • possess a growth mindset and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement through professional development, reflection, and feedback; and
  • hold NESA accreditation and maintain up-to-date knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and reporting requirements.
