Our two senior basketball teams recently represented Avondale in the ASSA Basketball Tournament on the Gold Coast. This is an annual tournament involving 36 teams and 350 students. It was a full day of games on the Friday with finals on Saturday night. Our senior girls finished 1st, bringing home the trophy again and our boys finished 4th. Nikysha B, Elijah T and Jamie H were selected as Merit Team players and Amy M received MVP for U19 Girls. Our players then backed this up with the HRIS Basketball Gala Day on Tuesday where our girls finished 3rd and our boys finished 6th. Our students were excellent ambassadors of Avondale and we’re proud of their effort and attitude on and off the court.
