Even When We Don’t See It

The View - May 15, 2026

This past week we have been celebrating Week of Worship (WOW) across our Primary Campus. WOW is like having Chapel every day for a whole week, and it’s one of the highlights of the year for our Campus Ministry Team. Students get very excited, we welcome a guest speaker, there are prizes, fun stage sets, and music with a band every day.

In Primary School, WOW only happens once a year, and students often ask why it can’t last longer. What they don’t see is that WOW actually lasts far beyond a single week for our team. As soon as one WOW finishes, once the sets are packed away and the speaker has gone home, we begin thinking about the next one.

Months in advance we are planning themes, organising speakers, building sets, ordering supplies, and asking ourselves how we can help students understand the Bible in a way that is meaningful and engaging. Most of the work happens quietly, long before anyone sees the final result.

I think God often works in our lives the same way. We usually notice the big moments; the breakthrough, the answered prayer, the visible change in someone’s life. We rarely see the slow and steady work happening underneath. We don’t see the daily battles people are facing, the quiet growth taking place, or the ways God is shaping someone over time. This work is unglamorous, repetitive, exhausting, and ordinary. So much of God's work happens in the background, before anything is visible on the surface.

A few times this week in K–2 WOW we’ve been singing the song Waymaker. One line says: “Even when I don’t see it, You’re working. Even when I don’t feel it, You’re working.” I love how our littlest students sing. Belting out their worship songs with big open hearts and without any shame.

This song, just like all the WOW prep we do, reminds me of a powerful truth: God is always at work. God sees the bigger picture when we only see a small part of the story. Even in the waiting, even in the ordinary moments, even when we can’t see the outcome yet.

So, if you are currently in a season of struggle, growth, or waiting, be encouraged: God is still working, behind the scenes. You are seen, you are valued, you matter, even when you don’t see it.
