Avondale School once again hosted the annual HRIS Cross country at Avondale University. It was a great day as we had sunshine and no mud for a change. A huge thanks to the Avondale University PDHPE students who helped as officials on the day. Terrina and her band of volunteers ran an amazing canteen raising money to purchase new team uniforms for athletics.
Primary
The sun was shining, the course was in great condition and our Primary students put on a wonderful show. The most wonderful aspects of the afternoon were witnessing how incredibly supportive our students were of one another. The team spirit was alive and well, with all our runners crossing the finish line with nothing left in the tank, giving their all for each other. Personal bests were a common theme, while a special congratulations is extended to Billy S (Year 2), Summer A, Indigo P, Henry P (Year 3), Nathan P (Year 4) and Francesca B (Year 6) whom have all qualified for the CIS Championships on June 25!
Secondary
Our Secondary students did us proud with a large number of top 10 finishes and 3 Age Champions. The competition was close between schools. We don't have the final school placing at this stage but it will be announced as soon as that is finalised. A great team effort and a pleasing result – well done team!
