This week Avondale School hosted the Newcastle heat for the annual Kids' Lit Quiz. The literature-based quiz for students (aged 10-13) saw 21 teams (consisting of four students) from 8 schools come together to compete. Over the course of 10 rounds, teams answered 100 book related questions with a team from Novoschool emerging as the Newcastle Heat winners and earning their place in the national finals this coming May. It was fantastic to see so many schools, travelling from near and far, coming together to celebrate a shared love of books and reading. Avondale School entered three teams of students into the competition. Thank you to Lucas R, Nyah H, Zoe P, Willow A, Zara M, Elizabeth R, Mukudzeyi M, Frankie B, Alexandra T, Eva T, Bronte V and Amira W for stepping up to represent your school. Your dedication, positive attitudes and efforts were greatly appreciated.
