If you’ve heard upbeat music playing at lunchtime and spotted a group of students in bright pink high-vis vests, you’ve seen one of the most inspiring new initiatives on campus - Mr H’s Helpers!
Spearheaded by Mr Hernandez, this project was born out of a simple but important observation: from time to time, rubbish finds its way into places it doesn’t belong around our school. Rather than just talking about the problem, Mr Hernandez came up with a creative solution. Armed with a cart, lively tunes, and thirty fluoro vests proudly stamped with 'Mr H’s Helpers', he’s rallied students to roll up their sleeves and make a difference.
The best part? It’s completely voluntary, and yet dozens of students are choosing to spend their lunchtime collecting rubbish, cleaning out bushes and adding value back to our school environment. They aren’t just tidying up, they’re laughing, chatting, working as a team and walking back to class buzzing with the satisfaction of having served.
The energy is contagious. What began as one staff member’s idea has quickly grown into a movement of service, pride and fun. A huge shout-out goes to Mr Hernandez for dreaming it up and making it happen. This shout-out is extended to our incredible students for showing that even the smallest acts of service can transform our school community.
