It has been a joy to welcome Chantelle into my 2P classroom for her final university placement. A proud Avondale School alumna, Chantelle is now studying Primary Education at Avondale University. Many years ago, she was my student in Year 4 and seeing her return in this new role has been a wonderful full-circle moment.
This term, Avondale School has had the privilege of hosting 10 pre-service teachers across our Primary and Secondary classrooms. Each of them is taking important steps toward becoming fully qualified educators, and we are so proud to walk alongside them in this part of their journey.
Welcoming future teachers into our school is about more than just giving them classroom time, it’s about investing in the future of education. With the expertise of experienced staff, our placement students get the chance to observe, plan, teach, and reflect. And while they are guided and learning from us, they bring so much in return. Their fresh ideas, enthusiasm, and eagerness to grow add wonderful energy to our classrooms.
Our students have loved this too. Pre-service teachers often introduce new activities, creative approaches, and different perspectives that enrich learning in exciting ways. Perhaps most importantly, they model what it means to be a lifelong learner and show them that even teachers are always learning and growing.
We are genuinely honoured to play a part in shaping the next generation of educators. Just as great teachers inspired and guided us, we hope the encouragement and mentoring these students receive here will inspire them in turn to positively impact countless young lives in the years to come.
I am honoured to help shape the next generation of educators and wish Chantelle and all our pre-service teachers every success as they complete their studies and step into classrooms of their own.
