Last week the annual Primary Chess Competition was held in the MPC with 70 students from Kindy to Year 6 participating. There were 42 Juniors from Kindy to Year 4 and 28 Seniors from Years 5 & 6. Everyone completed 7 rounds with good sportsmanship being demonstrated. New chess rules were learnt and reinforced throughout the competition. The 7 Kindy students all received a packet of Smarties for being so clever to play chess at such a young age. The top 4 players in each division will represent Avondale School at the HRIS Chess Competition.
