National Science Week on the Secondary Campus was packed with activities that sparked curiosity, celebrated creativity, and showed why Science is a pathway to innovation and exciting careers.
The week kicked off with BIG SCIENCE at the Courts and Oval, featuring butane bottle rockets and the dramatic metaphorical 'explosion' of the purple Bullying Box and Bully Bear—a powerful stand for kindness. In classrooms, students explored cutting-edge ideas through our Science News series:
On Tuesday evening 27 students travelled to Newcastle University for The Quantum Experience with Dr Lachlan Rogers, who distilled complex quantum physics into just four words—Quantum, Superposition, Measurement, Entanglement—leaving minds buzzing with new possibilities.
Lunchtime fun throughout the week included Vortex Cannons in our Science Maker Space and the Plane Crazy - Flight Competition, where students built and modified gliders to compete in flight challenges.
From rockets to quantum theory, from Mars to materials of tomorrow, Science Week reminded us that science at Avondale School is more than a subject—it’s a launchpad to understanding the world and shaping the future.
