One of the great joys of my role in Primary is seeing the many parents who generously give their time to support our students and contribute to the life of our school.
Throughout the year, parents and volunteers contribute in many different ways. Some are in classrooms listening to children read, others assist at sporting events, while others work behind the scenes, attending meetings, sharing ideas and helping to create special events. Each contribution, whether large or small, adds something valuable to our school community.
Our infant years’ volunteers are a wonderful example. By sitting with students, engaging them in learning tasks and encouraging their developing skills, they provide valuable individual attention and help build confidence. We are also incredibly thankful for Terrina and her volunteer team, who regularly coordinate and organise stalls for our Primary events. The recent Father's Day Stall is a great example of the work that happens behind the scenes. Staff and volunteers working together for the sake of our community ensure these events run smoothly and create memorable experiences for our students and families.
There is so much that happens across our campus quietly and without recognition. Yet the impact can be seen in the experiences our students enjoy, the support provided to our teachers and the strong sense of connection that exists across our school.
Christian education is about far more than what happens in the classroom. We want our students to understand that service is an important part of following Jesus. Throughout His ministry, Jesus modelled servant leadership, showing us that true greatness is found in serving others. When our children see parents and volunteers giving their time to help others, they see this principle being lived out in a very practical way.
The involvement of our volunteers also strengthens the partnership between home and school. It reminds our students that their education and wellbeing matter, and that our school is a community we build together.
To all our Primary Campus volunteers, thank you. While I can only speak on behalf of Primary, I know this appreciation is shared across our whole school. Our Principal and Head of Secondary regularly reflect in our meetings on the wonderful contribution made by volunteers throughout the larger campus.
