Three Things We Want Every Student to Know About Integrity

The View - July 03, 2026

1. Integrity requires courage.
Integrity is revealed in the choices we make when no one is watching and when following the crowd would be easier.

It takes courage to stand up for what is right, even when others don't. It takes courage to include the student who is left out, to speak kindly when others gossip, to refuse to join in behaviour that hurts others, and to stand alongside someone who needs a friend.

Your character is built one choice at a time. Every time you choose what is right, even when it costs you something, you become the person God created you to be.

2. Accountability helps you grow.
One of the greatest signs of maturity is taking responsibility for yourself.

It's easy to make excuses, blame someone else or explain away your choices. It's much harder, and much more powerful to say, "I got that wrong. I'll learn from it and do better next time."

Accountability isn't about being perfect. It's about owning your actions, learning from mistakes and choosing to grow. When you stop making excuses and start taking responsibility, you will discover that mistakes don't define you, they develop you.

3. Honesty builds trust.
Trust is one of the most valuable things you can earn, and honesty is how we build it.

Being honest means telling the truth, even when it's uncomfortable. It means admitting when you’ve made a mistake, keeping your promises, following through on your commitments and doing what you say you will do.

People learn they can rely on someone who is honest. They know your words and actions match. Integrity isn't achieved in one big moment. It is built one choice at a time. As you grow in courage, accountability and honesty, you become people whose lives positively influence those around you.

More importantly, you become someone whose character reflects the God who calls us to "act justly, love mercy and walk humbly" with Him.
