Year 10 Business Week

Secondary News - Mar 28, 2025

Each year our Year 10 Commerce students complete a PBL project where they promote and run a school-based business. The process starts with students forming groups and selecting their range of products to sell during recess and lunch. Groups then need to conduct market research in the form of surveys and focus groups to shape their Marketing Mix: product, price, place and promotion. These ideas are then pitched to our 'Sharks' during Shark Tank where they are given feedback and suggestions on their business ideas and marketing.

2025 Business Week saw the usual favourites: slushies, pizza, milkshakes, toasties, pancakes and baked treats, while popcorn was added to the rotation thanks to the School’s investment in a popcorn-making machine. Students are charged a 10% sales tax (similar to GST), which is donated to charity. With the remaining profit shared between the business owners. A special shout-out to Mr Tosen, Mr Branster, Mrs Mesaric and Mrs Dein for their support and guidance during the project. Year 10 Business Week will be back bigger and better in 2026.
