Last week our Year 10 students had their Kairos Service week. It started with a coastal walk and BBQ at Catherine Hill Bay Beach where we were blessed with a beautiful day and a chance to relax after exams and Work Experience. Staying at school overnight gave more time to relax and hear life advice from our community members during worship times. Tuesday morning saw us heading into the community and serving through backyard blitz’s, helping at the Sonship Op Shop, helping out at our Avondale Early Learning Centre, washing the SES and community vehicles, visiting with residents at Adventist Senior Living and assisting with the Early Years Christmas Party.
Each afternoon we were privileged to hear life advice from community experts with sessions on Looking After Yourself, Looking After Others, Truth Behind Social Media, Boys to Men, Moving out of Home, How to Relax and Reset, Blades and Brains: Staying Safe with Garden Gear, Dollars and Sense: Financial Literacy, Etiquette, Car Care Basics, How to Read the Bible and Taking Charge of Your Health.
We were also blessed to hear Ashley Bottrell share his life story and the way God moved in a powerful way. Another highlight of the week was the Raw Challenge on Friday. It was great to see our students face each obstacle with resilience and positivity and we're proud of the way they supported one another. Year 10, thank you for the selfless way you have served our community and for being trailblazers of the Kairos program. Well done!
