Year 10 Snow Camp

Secondary News - Sept 12, 2025

Our Year 10 students recently braved the snow and the slopes on an unforgettable camp to Perisher. It was a trip filled with fun, laughter, a few spectacular falls, and plenty of moments that will be remembered for years to come.

From the moment we arrived the students were challenged to step outside their comfort zones. Whether they were first-time snowboarders or more experienced skiers, each student pushed themselves in new ways. There were cheers from the lifts as students encouraged each other down the slopes. One of the unexpected highlights was watching students successfully dismount the Perisher chairlift in one go — upright, coordinated, and most importantly, in one piece. It was an achievement. This snow camp was also the beginning of our Kairos journey. Kairos is a Greek word meaning the right or opportune time — a moment where everything aligns for purpose, growth, and decision making. It marks a special phase in the life of our Year 10 students as they begin to reflect on who they are, where they’re going and what kind of person they want to be.

To mark the start of their Kairos journey, each student was gifted a Kairos hat, shirt, and journal along with a copy of the Live More Happy book by Dr Darren Morton. These gifts weren’t just souvenirs, they were symbols of a deeper invitation to listen, to reflect and to embrace the moment. For such a time as this, we encouraged our students to begin making decisions with courage and faith, knowing that growth often happens when we least expect it. Like at the top of a snowy mountain, with a board under your feet and a hill stretching out before you.

The snow camp wasn’t just a few days away in the mountains, it was a milestone. A chance for students to challenge themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually. And if the way they tackled the slopes is anything to go by, the rest of their Kairos journey is going to be something truly special.

Well done, Year 10 — we’re proud of every one of you!
