Year 11 Geography students enjoyed two fantastic days of hands on learning and outdoor exploration, with clear skies providing conditions for fieldwork and geographical investigations. Students explored marine geography during a whale watching cruise, experiencing first hand the importance of coastal marine environments. They also investigated tourism and recreational activities through camel rides along Stockton Beach, followed by marshmallows around the fire pit, a well deserved oppurtunity to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Students also partipcated in the Census survey, providing students with a practical demonstration on how data is collected and used to generate statistics, which is an important skill directly connected to our Geography Studies. Students also enjoyed a scenic walk up Mount Tomaree in Shoal Bay, taking in spectacular coastal views, followed by a swim and lunch. Students conducted geographical fieldwork within coastal and wetland ecosystems, applying classroom knowledge to real world environments. It was a wonderful two days of learning, exploration, teamwork and adventure, and a fantastic oppurtunity for students to experience Geography beyond the classroom!
