Year 11 Hospitality Pop-Up Cafe

Secondary News - Sept 08, 2023

Last week, Year 11 Hospitality students undertook a competency task where they had to design, prepare, produce and cook a meal for a Pop-Up Cafe. Students had to run the events themselves in teams where they had to produce a meal they made by hand to serve 25 customers. Students made a variety of meals from handmade focaccia served with a pear and walnut salad; handmade fettuccini with a carbonara sauce and herb garlic bread; chicken schnitzel slider, handmade potato chips and garden salad; chicken caesar wrap with sweet potato fries. It was wonderful to see the students make their bread, pasta, sauces, dressings and pesto by hand and minimise the use of ready to eat products. Students are to be commended for their menus which were designed very well, their excellent teamwork skills and the ability to showcase their wonderful cookery skills developed to date.
