Our HSC Biology students recently explored the fascinating world of genetic engineering through a bacterial transformation experiment. In this practical investigation, students inserted a gene originally from a jellyfish into bacteria, allowing the bacteria to express a glow-in-the-dark trait. This hands-on experience gave students valuable insight into how DNA can be transferred between organisms and how biotechnology is used in modern science. It was an engaging way for students to connect classroom learning with real-world scientific techniques.
