This week, our Year 12 Modern History students had the opportunity to visit the National Council of Jewish Women in Sydney to engage with an interactive Holocaust exhibit. As part of the experience, students met a Holocaust survivor, who generously shared her powerful personal story. Hearing her firsthand account was a deeply moving and unforgettable moment that brought history to life in a profound way.
Following this, students participated in a valuable seminar presented by a subject expert, specifically designed to support their study of the HSC ‘Power and Authority in the Modern World’ unit. This session provided crucial context and insights that will directly support their preparation for upcoming trial and HSC exams. The day also included access to a range of archival materials and historical artefacts from the Sydney Jewish Museum, allowing students to explore the realities of the Holocaust through authentic sources.
Overall, it was an extraordinary and meaningful learning experience that deepened students’ understanding of the Holocaust, totalitarianism, and the lasting impact of authoritarian regimes.
