Year 12 PROPEL Local Heroes Presentation

Secondary News - Sept 05, 2025

Last week, Avondale School’s Year 12 PROPEL students took centre stage as they hosted the Local Heroes Evening—an inspiring celebration that highlighted the heart of our community while showcasing the remarkable growth of our students.

Culminating a term and a half of hard work, planning, and teamwork, the event reflected the integration of VET subjects with English Studies, Work Studies, and Mathematics. Students designed, coordinated, budgeted for, and presented a professional evening of recognition. From the first idea to the final applause, every detail was student-led—demonstrating the confidence, professionalism, and maturity developed through their PROPEL journey.

A spirit of celebration and gratitude filled the room as students welcomed community members, shared stories of remarkable individuals, and honoured those who give selflessly to others. Polished delivery, professional organisation, and heartfelt speeches revealed not only academic growth but also an ability to engage meaningfully with a large audience.

More than just an event, the Local Heroes Evening will be remembered for the way it revealed the potential of young people to step up, take ownership, and shine. We are incredibly proud of our students for honouring local heroes with grace and demonstrating what it means to learn with purpose.
