Year 2 Sunnyside Excursion

Primary News - May 24, 2024

This week Year 2 attended Sunnyside, the important heritage home of Ellen White, co-founder of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Students enjoyed hearing how she started Avondale School and how her faith translated into helping others in the local community. Ellen wrote the book 'Desire of Ages' while she lived in Cooranbong, and is the most translated female non-fiction author in the history of literature!

Students had a wonderful day dressing up in 1890’s period clothing, comparing old and new technology, touring Sunnyside, practising washing with a washboard, playing old fashioned games, cooking damper, churning butter and more! Teachers and students walked to Sunnyside because it is just down the road at 27 Avondale Road.

Sunnyside is open to the community to tour on Saturday afternoons from 3.00 - 5.00pm.
