Year 5 Visit Watagan Park Central Construction Site

Primary News - Feb 28, 2025

Year 5 had a very unique opportunity this week to have an exclusive guided tour of the Watagan Park Central commercial site being built right next door to our school. Year 5 learn about urban planning as part of their Geography studies, and have had a real life hands on opportunity to review plans, make suggestions and interact with a real life property developer. Students were then given an opportunity to put on the high vis vest and hard hat and visit the site walking through the spaces they had previously seen only on site plans.

After learning all about zoning regulations and the unique characteristics of commercial spaces, students made suggestions to Mr Braden Johnson from Johnson Property Group about what shops should go where. Students needed to consider many factors for their recommendations and give a justification for each.

When Watagan Park Central has confirmed what is going where, students will have another opportunity to visit and see what recommendations of theirs has become a reality. How cool!
