In Year 8 English students have commenced a project where they are working both individually and collaboratively to answer the driving question of “How can we engage and educate children through picture books?” The project asks our Year 8s to create an engaging and educational picture book for a Kindy student. This week the Year 8s made a trip over to the Kindy classrooms to meet and greet their Kindy client and gather some information about the sort of stories they enjoy. It was a wonderful visit, enjoyed by all. Next week our students will be visited by the amazingly talented children’s book illustrator, Jenni Goodman, who will be giving students some invaluable mentoring about the design of their own picture books, and in Week 5 next term the Year 8 students will return to the Kindy classes and share their completed picture books. We look forward to seeing their creativity in action in service to others.
