Years 5 & 6 Olympian Visit

Primary News - June 27, 2025

On Wednesday, our Year 5 and 6 students were treated to a special visit from Olympian Nicholas Timmings as part of the Olympics Unleashed program. Nick represented Australia in the Skeleton event at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and he inspired students by sharing the highs and lows of his sporting journey.

Nick’s message was heartfelt and real. He spoke openly about how fear almost stopped him from pursuing his Olympic dream, and how he eventually found the courage to forge his own path, staying focused on the goals he had set for himself.

Students were left with three powerful takeaways:

1. Don’t be scared to take opportunities and have fun.
2. Follow your dreams.
3. Even when times are tough, don’t give up on your dreams or yourself.

Our students loved hearing Nick’s story, asking thoughtful questions, posing for class photos, and even collecting a few autographs! Nick’s down-to-earth nature and determination made a big impression. As Nick prepares to begin qualifying for the Milan 2026 Winter Olympics, we’ll be cheering him on and hoping to see him continue chasing his dreams. What an incredible role model for our students!
