Stage 5 - Industrial Technology (Metal)

Course Overview

Students at Avondale School will have the opportunity to excel in Industrial Technology Metal due to upgrades to the metal working space and combined with a rich heritage in project-based learning. As such, this course enables students to develop knowledge, skills and real-life working values as they learn to safely use metal technologies and techniques in an industrial environment.

Although Industrial Technology is primarily skill based, students will have the opportunity to follow a design process where they learn to apply their creativity by planning, developing, constructing and evaluating quality projects. Critical thinking is fostered as practical problems are solved during project realisation and communication skills enhanced as written reports, a case study, and project management folios are generated. Students spend the majority of course time undertaking practical learning activities.

Course Content

Students develop knowledge and understanding of materials and processes. Related knowledge and skills are developed through a specialised approach to the tools, materials, equipment and techniques employed in the planning, development, construction and evaluation of quality practical projects and processes.
