Stage 6 - Business Services [VET]


Course Overview

The Business Services course is one that covers a broad range of sectors not aligning to any particular industry or profession. It provides grounding in business skills and knowledge for work in any business-related field. The core units cover areas such as:

  • Assist with maintaining workplace safety.
  • Apply critical thinking skills in a team environment.
  • Engage in workplace communication.
  • Support personal wellbeing in the workplace.
  • Participate in sustainable work practices.
  • Use business software applications.

The course is designed to equip learners with transferable skills that enables them to transition across job roles and industries. Upon completion of this qualification, students may work in a range of business related such as Administration, Human Resources, Legal Services, Management and Medical Administration.

At the successful completion of this course, students will receive a nationally recognised Certificate III in Business as well as 2 units towards their HSC. Students can sit the HSC examination for inclusion in ATAR calculations.

Work Placement

Students are required to complete 70 hours of mandatory work placement over Years 11 and 12.

Assessment

Assessment is competency based and can include, but not limited to:

  • Observation during class and work placement
  • Written tasks
  • Practical tasks
  • Skills tests
  • Competency tests
  • An HSC exam is optional for those students receiving an ATAR.
