Stage 6 - Business Studies


Course Overview

Business Studies in a unique course as it engages students in theory and practical aspects of business. It offers opportunities from the planning of a small business to the management of operations, marketing, finance and human resources in large businesses. The course lays an excellent foundation for students who desire to pursue tertiary studies or future employment in the business world.

Year 12

  • Operations
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Human resources
Assessment

Both the Year 11 and Year 12 Courses will be assessed using the following:

  • Business Research Task
  • Business Reports and Plans
  • Case Study Anaylsis and Tests
HSC Examination
  • 3 hour examination.
Prerequisite Knowledge and Skills

Completing Commerce at a Year 9 and 10 level would be of benefit to students. Students need to be prepared to keep up to date with current events, as well as revise regularly. Written and verbal communication skills are essential, as students need to think logically and utilise business terminology.
