The Mathematics Extension 1 Year 11 course includes the Mathematics Advanced Year 11 course. The Mathematics Extension 1 Year 12 course includes the Mathematics Advanced Year 12 course. The study of Mathematics Extension 1 in Stage 6:

A variety of formal and informal assessment for learning, assessment as learning and assessment of learning tasks, including written examinations, assignments and/or investigation style tasks.
The Mathematics Extension 1 Year 11 course has been developed on the assumption that students have studied the content and achieved the outcomes of the NSW Mathematics Years 7–10 Syllabus and, in particular, the content and outcomes of all core and pathway topics covered in the Express Course, including every topic covered in the Functions, polynomials and other graphs pathway.
It is preferred that students entering into the Mathematics Extension 1 Course will have performed in the top 20% of the Year 10 Mathematics Express Course and be willing to work a minimum of 60 minutes/night on this subject. Students who do not meet one of the prerequisites (below) must make written application to the Assistant Head of Secondary: Teaching and Learning.
